days of twang - dephazz

“Days of Twang” glänzt in perfekter Imperfektion. Karl Frierson rundet das musikalische Bild auf typisch herzerweichende auf “It Will Turn Out Right” und auch untypisch countrybluesrockende Art und Weise ab bei “What s The Use Of…”.

sant e livet - laine

Moony, compelling melodies, a gentle, velvety, soulful voice from Sweden and inserted unobtrusive pieces of Drum’n'Bass, results in LAINE’s non-categorical melange.
The outcome of the harmonious symbiosis from electronics, jazz and pop results in more than the sum of their individual parts. Kristina Lindberg’s goose skin producing voice and the cautious rhythmic sound network are hypnotic and force you to listen consistently to the ten well-elaborated songs.
The Austrian-Swedish formation exists since the year 2001, formed by the Austrian producers Clemens and Stefan PICHLER as well as the Swedish singer Kristina LINDBERG.
Christian WENDT an upright-bass player did not only affect the band structure, together they developed a new reduced and open sound, which soon became the unmistakable brand name of LAINE. A sound that allows space, which can emerge over and anon and also lets us discover some new facets in the sound universe of LAINE.
Kristina Lindberg, Clemens and Stefan Pichler were all strongly affected in their musical socialisation by jazz, which is noticeable in a unpretentious way. After listening you will hear that pop as well as electronic music have affected their sound identity. Here you notice that the tracks are not ever lasting loops that keep repeating themselves, rather fascinating and even slightly structured compositions.
A music for people, who expect more than a steaming freestyle-mix that begins somewhere and nowhere expires - an affair of the heart!

inspirations - sistars

The Innocent Sorcerers are two talented electronica producers and DJs from Warsaw have made a name for themselves by their persistent output of great releases on labels like Fluid Ounce and Raw Fusion. Envee and Maceo Wyro are all about “blending different rhythmic patterns in order to keep people surprised without losing a vibe, like a musical journey from pyramids to spaceships, where past, present and future become one.”

ralf gum - easy (part 2)

More mixes of the club smash “Easy” by Ralf GUM with Inaya Day on vocals, come here as GOGO Music’s second digital-only-release. With the “Alternative Vocal” Ralf GUM & CrisP turn their deeper original into a really funky and uplifiting affair, which makes this one just perfect for peaktime occasions. For those who prefer it with less vocals check out the „Alternative Dub“, which keeps the same vibe and adds some slight filtering.

Additional, as many of you have been asking for it, we now have for you an instrumental version of Raw Artistic Soul’s Dub Remix. Pure spiritual groovyness as only Phil Kullmann can provide it.

On remix tip up and coming talent King DK, who released his first production entitled „Can’t read your mind” last year on UK’s Black Vinyl. Having been resident for more than 3 years at the legendary Deelight Club in Frankfurt (Germany) he established himself as a DJ of taste and currently concentrates on own productions and remixes. King DK delivers a soul-drenched mix with nice live-baseline and guitar.

Tracklist Ralf GUM - Easy (Part 2) - GODIG 002:

1. Ralf GUM & CrisP Alternative Vocal
2. Raw Artistic Soul Instrumental Dub
3. King DK Remix
4. Ralf GUM & CrisP Alternative Dub

computer incarnations for world

beside their own productions, dj gigs and work for their sonar kollektiv label, the berlin collective jazzanova are more and more building a reputation as successful compilers. recently they have brought out several compilations which have been warmly received in the media and by the listening public. from their more club orientated …mixing” (sk033cd/lp) to the brazilian compilation paz e futebol (sk089cd/lp) and focus jazz (sk108cd/lp) which concentrates on east european jazz, the eclectic range of music covered by jazzanova compilations has earned them worldwide respect.

and of late the subject matter of their compilations has become increasingly surprising. the compilation series secret love which deals with folk and electronica is by now on its third release (sk042cd/lp, sk066cd/lp and sk123cd/lp) which is proof in itself for the success of the series and shows that jazzanova have struck a nerve with the concept.

the new compilation computer incarnations for world peace which jazzanova member alex barck has put together with gerd janson (running back rec.) is well in keeping with this tradition. the focus here is on the early 80s, the years 1981 and 1982 in particular. this was an extremely exciting phase for production technology as sampler and computers - which are a central part of any sound studio today / where starting to be used for the first time.

many of the tracks on computer incarnations for world peace originate from a new wave context but there are also pieces by the 1920s born american jazz percussionist ray barretto as well as the french jazz/fusion violinist jean/luc ponty which on first glance are closer to the jazzanova musical spirit than the somewhat cool sounding new wave aesthetic.

so the compilation fits the jazzanova pattern. the obvious big names have been left out and instead some rare almost forgotten tunes have been brought back into daylight. the source of these tracks is very diverse / some have been a regular feature in jazzanova’s record box for almost 12 years, other have been rediscovered more recently.

this is my home - lanu

This Is My Home’ is the stunning debut from New Zealand-born, Melbourne-based producer Lanu (aka Lance Ferguson).
Brimming with future soul and broken beat flavours, forward-thinking production and intuitive jazz sensibility, this longplayer marks a distinct departure from the raw, deep funk sound of Ferguson’s other project, The Bamboos. Informed and inspired by the digital rhythms of West London and Detroit, Ferguson delivers an infectious hybrid of contemporary soul music, jazz, funk and expertly programmed beats.
This effortless eclecticism is hardly surprising, given Lanu’s musical heritage. Grandson of New Zealand’s first ever recording artist, he has toured as a session guitarist for Joe Bataan, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Bembe Segue and the Quantic Soul Orchestra. With his Antipodean deep funk outfit The Bamboos, Lance has recorded for such respected independent labels as Freestyle, Soul Force, Kay Dee and (of course) Tru Thoughts - while his passion for DJing has taken him all over Europe and Asia. It is these experiences and influences which Lance has drawn on for the album - assimilating and incorporating them into an hour-long Australasian future soul opus.
‘Dis-Information’ - the first single to be lifted from the album - is an up-tempo discourse on the media built around a punchy Moog bassline, angular Rhodes chords and an insistent break.
‘Mother Earth’ teams up Quantic and vocalist Aloe Blacc for a broken Afro-beat workout that calls out for us to respect the planet or face the consequences.
The album also features guest appearances by keyboardist Simon Grey and New Zealand vocalist, Cherie Mathieson.
Uniting the sounds of broken beat, hip hop, house, soul, Latin and jazz, Lanu has succeeded in creating an album with enough depth and versatility to work just as well on a decent set of headphones as it does on a club soundsystem.
