Junkyard Production’s sound is a mix of crispy lo-fi dub, jazzy vocals and Jamaican style mc’ing. The band is based in Aarhus and Aalborg in the north of Denmark. The main influence is ol’skool Jamaican dub as well as the modern dub sound from Berlin.
Founder of Junkyard Productions is Rasmus Allin. He’s been working with electronic music since 1995, with the Danish band Dub Wise. He played guitar on the Örtz album “Another Eden”, from witch the hit-single “We Don’t Talk” was taken. He’s also DJ’ing as a member of “The Dub Collective”. Christian is a computer-wizz and accomplished drummer. His greatest contribution to the band is his anarchistic sense of humor and spontaneity. Dennis is an amazingly powerful bass player in styles like hiphop, acid jazz and reggae. Ena is an experienced and skilled singer, who’s done a wide variety of styles such as jazz, soul, pop and also acid-jazz infused with hiphop. MC Pops Jabu has been living in South Africa, Zimbabwe and London, before he settled down in Denmark. He already has several albums under his belt. Doing his thing live he can tear the roof of any venue.

Living With Owusu and Hannibal is the debut album from Danish duo Philip Owusu and Robin Hannibal. Packed with street smarts, a cheeky sense of humor and forward thinking production this soul-tinged debut is made up of (mostly) down tempo songs. Juxtaposing glitchy digital beats, fat bottom end, and shiny synths with acoustic guitars and lush strings they retain their warmth and organic vibe but have been given a thorough roughing-up around the edges.
After the dreamy intro (sung in Danish by local school kids) Living With Owusu and Hannibal kicks off with the appropriately blues-y vibe of “Blue Jay” (a song about an immigrant night worker) that sits guitar and gospel-shaded vocal on top of a disjointed beat and eighties flavored keys. “Lonnie’s Secret” and “Another Mile” take the bpms up several notches with rubbery bass lines, while “Watch” is a string laden ballad (about a guy falling in love with a girl in a movie) with an unexpected twist. Eschewing all the rules the album features full and partial songs, instrumentals and tracks that sound just as good intimate, in your headphones, as they do blasting through a car or club sound system.

“Sex Machine” is more than just a musical milestone; it manifested something in our collective consciousness
on a par with the first moon landing.
Many pop stars are products of their times, real pop stars embody their times.
“James Brown was ecstatic. He had transformed a single groove into a piece of gold.” (Alan M. Leeds)
While the one and only James Brown always gets hips shaking and the original version of Sex Machine
stirs things up in the new hit comedy “Wo ist Fred?” starring Til Schweiger (Start November 16th, 2006),
Readymade Jazz Defector alias Konishi Yasuharu more than holds his own on the dance floor with his
Sex Machine version.
But the Sex Machine Readymade Jazz Defector remix is just a foretaste of the album-length
James Brown remix collection “Dynamite X.”
So get yourself warmed up for some hot dance action!

The DVD-ROM portion of the disc has mp3 portable/iPod ready files of the whole album and exclusive bonus remixes, including two additional versions of “Bring the Herbs” and the “Eagle Sprouts” 12″ nuwavediskomix.

2nd release of Perfect.Toys brandnew Ultrafunk series features their new signing Vienna based TELEMARK. ‘Sanctified’ features the powerful vocals of Big John Whitfield, one of the most well known soul singers in Vienna’s Clubland. The track is a broken tek-funk monster with an ultra-throbbing bassline. ‘I Can’t Live Without U’ deeply explores the beginning of chicago disco combined with a classy polyrhythmic drum feeling while ‘Limelight’ is a mutant tech-house tune with a killer bassline reminiscent of 80ies synthies.

A little warm up from Gecko Turner’s new album on Lovemonk ‘Chandalismo Ilustrado’, featuring a rather neat set of remixes from Bugz In The Attic’s Seiji. The album is a diverse selection of D’Angelo style grooves, played with considerably more charm than you’d expect from a former London Underground busker, but this package takes the man from Madrid to the dancefloor via West London.
The chirpy, cheeky original glides with a West African guitar sound and handclaps egging the backing vox on, with Gecko’s spoken word accompaniment just the icing on the cake, and everything with some Cuban nuances…
Seiji’s pair of Vox remixes take the guitar and horn to the floor, adding a Bugz style distorted bass and a more urgent flavour. The Dub Vox mix, on the other hand, is deep and a bit techy - maybe even a little bit evil…One of the best remixes Seiji has done in a long time?

For more than 15 years in the scene Ralf remains cool underground and delivers once again a very fresh release with lots of personality. The “House Mix” produced together with long term studio-partner CrisP is an infectious blend of delicious elements merge into another just perfectly and building the right soundbed for Beate.
Beate S. Lech, also known as the lead voice of Beady Belle, has build up the reputation as one the most innovative jazz singers in today’s scene. After having released 3 albums she’s to date nominated for the Norwegian “Grammy”, Spellemannprisen 2006. She’s one of the favorite artists of India Arie or the jazz star Jamie Cullum. Together with him she toured together in the autumn/winter 2005 and played with great success over 150 concerts in over 90 cities in over 20 countries. On “Warrior” Beate shows once again her amazing song-writting skills and delivers an heavenly performance, standing aside of the many cheesy songs out there.

This time based on a unique afro-latin-funk rhythm, the whole mix has an irresistable funky feel. The second remix is contributed by RAW ARTISTIC SOUL, who lately has been in high demand thanks to his outstanding single releases “Zaab”, “Miami Theme” and “Oya O”. Phil delivers a deep straight to the floor dub, which makes the dancefloors sizzle.
